Some examples of our work.

Developing strategic options

Traditionally, approaches to assessing disabled people's eligibility for services have been medically based. Transport for London espouses a social model approach to disability and wanted to revise its application and assessment processes for its door-to-door services. This is a significant and far-reaching change. Future inclusion developed three social model-based options robustly based on a review of the literature, research amongst disabled Londoners and a costing model, from which Transport for London could determine its change route.

Understanding stakeholder needs

The Greater London Authority was seeking to improve the lives of disabled Londoners in accessing post-16 education, employment and housing. In conjunction with Equal Ability and Ionann Management Consultants, Future Inclusion undertook a major piece of qualitative research collating the experiences of disabled Londoners through focus groups and interview. The resulting report provided GLA officers with clear actions but, more importantly, an understanding of the environment in which improvements would be made, and the crossovers between the three issues.

Embedding sustainability

The revised London Mayor's Transport Strategy, published in 2010, incorporated a strong sustainability ethos - both social and environmental. Future Inclusion worked with a multidisciplinary team of consultants (from MVA and ERM) to deliver a sustainability appraisal. The appraisal was undertaken alongside the development of the Strategy, shaping the iterations of the Strategy as well as providing a final report.
